CATECHESIS

Catechesis basically means "teaching." It is training and instructing people in the basics of the Christian faith. This is a lifelong pursuit. There are times, however, when such training and teaching need to be more direct and intensive. We offer such direct catechesis in the form of classes for every age. The basic tools for catechesis are the Bible, Luther's Catechism, and the hymnbook.

The following are the classes routinely offered at our church:

Sunday School

On Sunday mornings following the Divine Service youth from pre-kindergarten through grade 8 are taught Bible stories. These stories are the source of the Christian faith. Classes last approximately 45 minutes.

Sunday Adult Bible Discussion

Bible Studies continue throughout the year on Sunday Mornings at 9:45 a.m. It covers a variety of pertinent topics for Christians today. We are currently discussing a Christian's suffering and how it enables him to empathize and share God's comfort with those who are experiencing similar situations.

Women's Bible Study

On a monthly basis, a women's Bible Study is offered. The ladies have been studying the faithful women of the bible and what they might learn about their faith.

Confirmation Class

For youths in grades 6, 7, and 8 who are preparing to receive the Lord's Supper for the first time, special classes are held weekly during the regular school year. Additional instruction times may be arranged.

Adult Class

This is offered to adults of any age who are interested either in becoming members of our congregation or in just knowing more about what we believe and practice. Classes are offered as needed.
